Curatorial text
The exhibition PEEP SHOW offers an innovative approach to contemporary ceramics made by women, through a scenographic setup that evokes voyeurism and the fragmentation of the gaze.
Through a series of windows overlooking the Daró, the river that runs through La Bisbal, the viewer is invited to observe (and at the same time to question) the dynamics of visibility, desire, and power that have historically shaped the representation of the female body and women’s work in art. In this exhibition, however, the focus is not on what a woman is, but on what she has created through her capacity, imagination, and artistic gesture, valuing the artwork as the result of a singular process of thought and experience.
The exhibition asserts ceramics as an artistic language with strong subversive potential, capable of challenging dominant narratives and generating spaces of resistance through materiality and gesture.
BRAVA is located in a former ceramics factory, one of the many that have made La Bisbal famous.
